Launch of the 4th “5 a day” Photography Competition
Under the slogan “Fruit and vegetables seen from a different angle”, the “5 a day” association is running the 4th edition of its photography competition, which in conjunction with the Photography School EFTI, and with sponsorship from IFCO SYSTEMS España and IFEMA, will exhibit the 20 photographs chosen as finalists as part of FRUIT ATTRACTION, The International Trade Fair for the Fruit and Vegetable Industry.
This competition was launched in 2009 and has become a regular fixture in just three years. It is designed to increase awareness about fruit and vegetables, and to see them from a different angle.

Finland takes centre stage at ARCOmadrid 2014
Finland will be the guest of honour in the 33rd ARCOmadrid, to be held from 19 to 23 February 2014. A selection of galleries chosen by Leevi Haapala, curator of the Kiasma Museum in Helsinki, will bring Finland's contemporary artistic production to Madrid. The #FocusFinland programme will be coordinated by Frame Visual Art Finland and will be partnered by Team Finland: the Finnish Embassy in Spain, the Ibero-American Institute of Finland and the Finnish Trade Office (Finpro).

FITUR 2014 Will Host the Presentation Ceremony for the UNWTO Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Tourism
The decision to stage the presentation ceremony within the framework of FITUR represents an important form of recognition on the part of the World Tourism Organisation regarding the work that is carried out by the trade fair
The 34th staging of the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR 2014, will provide the setting for the presentation of the UNWTO Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Tourism for the first time. These prestigious awards are presented each year by the UNWTO and their presentation at the trade fair clearly confirms the World Tourism Organisation's recognition of FITUR's importance. The ceremony will take place on 22nd January next, the first day of the show, which is due to be staged by IFEMA between 22nd and 26th January 2014 at its facilities at FERIA DE MADRID.

FITUR will stage its 34th event from 22nd to 26th January 2014
The largest business forum for the tourist industry will once again bring together the products and services of companies, bodies and institutions from all over the world
FITUR, the International Tourism Trade Fair, has commenced the marketing of exhibition space at its 34th show this month of May. The trade fair, which is organised by IFEMA, is due to take place between 22nd and 26th January next year. The halls at FERIA DE MADRID will once again host the staging of the largest business and promotional forum for the tourist industry, bringing together numerous companies, bodies and institutions from the industry throughout the world.
The last staging of FITUR, which took place in 2013, featured the attendance of some 8,979 exhibiting companies from 167 countries and regions. It also welcomed 116,157 trade visitors and some 91,082 members of the general public, to which we must add the 7,212 journalists who registered for ... -

EXPOBIKE supports the Passes of Guadarrama Challenge event
The Madrid Cycling Federation (FMC) and EXPOBIKE, the Association of Trademarks and Bicycles of Spain, have reached an agreement to collaborate on the upcoming Passes of Guadarrama Challenge event, which will see the cycle touring peloton tackle the most emblematic passes in Madrid's Sierra de Guadarrama range.
As a result, EXPOBIKE will be present in this event organised by the FMC, which this year forms part of the Ciclismo a Fondo Event Circuit. Moreover, EXPOBIKE will also use its different communication tools to publicise the Challenge.

According to the Strategic Lines of Action for the Internationalisation of the Agri-Food Sector
FRUIT ATTRACTION, an initiative which strengthens the fruit and vegetable sector
The document was presented by Luis de Guindos, the Minister for Economic Affairs and Competition, and Miguel Arias Cañete, the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Environmental Affairs.
On 20 May, the Minister for Economic Affairs and Competition, Luis de Guindos, and the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Environmental Affairs, Miguel Arias Cañete, presented a document setting out the "Strategic Lines of Action for the Internationalisation of the Agri-food Sector" in which FRUIT ATTRACTION is mentioned as an event with a key role to play in strengthening and improving the fruit and vegetable sector.
Specific reference is made to the need to "strengthen FRUIT ATTRACTION by promoting this trade fair in production regions where there is still significant scope for growth and, internationally, via the agriculture departments of Spain's embassies.”
