

The Congress will be held as part of INTERNATIONAL CONSTRUCTION WEEK, organised by IFEMA, and which is taking place between 8 and 11 May at the Feria de Madrid. This is made up of three events that are a fixture in the Madrid trade fair calendar: CONSTRUTEC, the International Construction Trade Fair; VETECO, the International Trade Fair for Windows, Facades and Glass Structures, and PIEDRA, the International Natural Stone Trade Fair.
The nZEB Congress will discuss EU Directive 2010/31, relating to the Energy Performance of Buildings and the implications of its implementation for the Building and Architecture Industry. The goal is to obtain high performance construction and minimum possible energy consumption in buildings over the course of the next decade.
The event already has 52 participants involved in building energy efficiency, 8 sponsors and 140 people registered. Organised by Grupo Tecma Red, through its CONSTRUIBLE and ESEFICIENCIA portals, and Solar Decathlon Europe-Spanish Ministry of Public Works, the event has the help and support of IFEMA; the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving of Energy, IDAE; the Superior Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain, CSCAE, and the Official College of Architects in Madrid, COAM.
From among the proposals received, the Organising and Technical Committees will select the eighteen proposals to be presented as talks during the congress, as well as those that will be displayed in poster form in a dedicated area within INTERNATIONAL CONSTRUCTION WEEK, and those that will be published.
The First Nearly Zero Energy Buildings Congress is aimed at professional consultants and companies in the building and energy sectors: Architects, engineers, builders and developers, material and equipment manufacturers, Local and Central Government officers, installers, etc. Reduced fees for early registration and special conditions for participants, speakers and sponsors are available until 31 March.
The Technical Committee has already been formed and is made up of influential people from the building and energy efficiency sectors: Luis Vega Catalán (Department of Architecture, Housing and Land, Ministry of Public Works), Pilar Pereda Suquet (Secretary of the Governing Board of the Official College of Architects in Madrid, COAM), Florencio Manteca (Director of Bioclimatic Architecture, CENER), Jaume Margarit (Managing Director of APPA), Javier Moreno (Chairman of ATECYR), José M. Campos (Head of Energy Efficient Built Environment, Construction Unit, Tecnalia Research & Innovation), Yago Massó (Technical Secretary of ANDIMAT), Ismael Martínez (Coordinating Manager SD Europe), Inés Leal (Director of CONSTRUIBLE), and Stefan Junestrand (Director of CASADOMO).
The Organising Committee will be made up by Javier Serra (Deputy Director General for Innovation and Quality of building at the Ministry of Development); Luis Vega (Department of Architecture, Housing and Lands, Ministry of Development), Juan Ramón Sánchez (Institutional Relations Solar Decathlon Europe), Raúl Calleja (Director of Construction Week, IFEMA) and Santos de Paz (Director of the ESEFICIENCIA portal, Grupo Tecma Red).
