In spite of the current economic situation, the companies taking part at the three fairs assembled a spectacular range of products, new features and ideas, making up a series of exhibitions that offered members of the industry an innovative showcase characterised by high levels of quality, design and exquisite presentation, effectively encompassing all market segments. The large number of professionals who attended this edition was also highly rated on this occasion. In this respect, in spite of the unfavourable market circumstances at present and the adverse weather conditions, GIFTRENDS fulfilled exhibitors' expectations in terms of the stature of the visitors and their international scope, thus creating a trade forum of the first order at which members of the industry were able to explore new opportunities and promote business activity.
With regard to the event's international dimension, we might highlight the presence of some 2,505 buyers from 70 countries at this edition, including large numbers from Europe, especially Portugal, Italy and France. We might also point to the increasing the number of professionals from developed but up-and-coming markets such as Russia and Poland, as well as from the Latin American Region (Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela) where Spanish products are becoming increasingly popular. Neither must we forget to mention the different regions that present considerable potential, such as Asia and Africa.
GIFTRENDS also confirmed its capacity to cater for the demands of the Spanish market, with some 68% of the professionals recorded at the triple event travelling to IFEMA from outside Madrid, especially from the Regions of Andalusia, Valencia, Catalonia, Castile-Leon, Castile-La Mancha and Galicia, in that order. Furthermore, we might mention the attendance of buyers from the Spanish islands at all three exhibitions, namely from the Balearic Islands and from the Canary Islands.
INTERGIFT: Seven Strategic Sectors and a Strong Level of Representation on the Part of the Furnishings and Exclusive Decoration Sectors
As is customary, INTERGIFT presented a diverse exhibition that encompassed seven strategic sectors of considerable economic importance, all of which are capable of making a significant impact on the level of trade activity over the next few months. In this respect, furnishings and exclusive decoration have acquired an increasingly important role within the exhibition as a whole, based on a series of integral presentation approaches that offer visitors a clear overview of the trends and ideas that adapt perfectly to different purposes and life-styles. Among these, in accordance with the latest demands for the new season, we might mention the importance of outdoor furniture, with all its different designs, materials and treatments. Many of the items on show could also be employed for interior decoration purposes. The exhibition also presented a number of highly practical and stylish ideas aimed at hotels and large group concerns of considerable business potential. Neither must we forget to mention the numerous details presented in the halls set aside for textiles, tableware, household equipment and other accessories, based on an extensive selection of items that successfully combined the latest cutting-edge developments with aspects of timeless appeal.
The children's and young people's gift sectors were also strongly represented at this edition, together with the latest ideas for the summer season and an entire range of gadgets, toys, licensed products of the moment and gifts of every shape and size, all brought together within the Fantasy Hall. We might also mention the specialised exhibitors in the Travel and Leather Goods sections, as well as the numerous purveyors of opportunistic and bulk-purchase items, which were brought together within the Miscellaneous Gifts section.
BISUTEX: A Key Point of Reference for Fashion
The BISUTEX exhibition once again confirmed its role as a key point of reference regarding the latest fashions in costume jewellery and accessories. The exhibition was based on an integrated approach in which both sectors offered a comprehensive overview of the products and services available, thus endowing the fair with a highly competitive, attractive and dynamic appeal. In this sense, BISUTEX established itself once again as an essential event for the Spanish trade, for a wide-ranging group of professionals linked to the world of fashion and for buyers from all over the world, whose attendance at the fair is growing with each new edition.
At this edition in particular, the fashion jewellery trends for next Spring/Summer included a strong use of floral motifs in highly vivid colours such as orange, mustard, fuchsia and turquoise, together with a series of large-volume pieces that combined enamel, fabric, resin and other materials. A sense of colour also acquired a prominent role within the world of accessories, with a marvellous exhibition of headwear being presented at the fair, featuring multiple colour combinations and original designs created specially for the ceremonies and celebrations that are typical of the spring and summer months. With regard to handbags, the exhibition featured the participation of a number of leading Spanish brands specialising in leather design and fashion.
IBERJOYA: The Latest Ideas in Contemporary Jewellery
At the IBERJOYA exhibition, the jewellery industry presented an entire range of highly versatile ideas adapted to the demands of the present day, both within the high-category collections and among other mass-consumer lines. In this respect, a series of high-quality and cutting-edge designs made of silver combined with precious stones, not to mention gold and other materials such as leather, resin and textiles, played a prominent role at the fair. In effect, the exhibition offered a number of new and contemporary approaches and ideas, presenting a diverse range of flexible options for the trade when it comes to adapting to different consumer profiles.
IBERJOYA also featured a number of prestigious brands specialising in exclusive jewellery creations. These participants presented a series of exclusive pieces for the market, consisting of veritable works of art destined for the luxury segment or even designed specially for collectors.
Among these items, we might mention the "Peacock" from NIRO JOYEROS, a unique piece that can be used as a brooch or a pendant, made of white gold and 40 carat diamonds and featuring decorative shades ranging from different bluish tones to purple.
Under the heading of timepieces, the Ayserco Group chose IBERJOYA as the ideal setting for the presentation of one of its most emblematic pieces: the La Pepa 2012 Bicentenary Bull Watch. With this creation, the company seeks to commemorate the Bicentenary of the First Spanish Constitution, with only 1,812 units of this watch being manufactured. During the course of the presentation event, which featured the presence of numerous celebrities from the worlds of journalism and entertainment, one of the watches was handed to Luis María Ansón, in his capacity as Honorary Ambassador for this prestigious timepiece.
